Ruth Anne Briggs-Greenberg

Artist in Residence

Persistence and patience has paid off for Ruth Anne Briggs-Greenberg.

Originally a prospective master’s student in political theory hoping to one day work at the world-reknowned think tank, The Rand Corporation, Ruth parlayed her occasional dalliances for all things related to art into a full-time opportunity over the last 10 years.

Ruth achieved notariety right off the bat, selling paintings to the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA and to the Sunstone Vineyard and Winery in Santa Ynez, CA on a lark. Following those sales, Ruth was commissioned by numerous companies and people to create individual works including the South Bay Paddleboard Association who asked Ruth to design their national race t-shirts, by the head of MGM Music who wanted a painting of the place where he and his wife were married and by MegaTrax Corporation which wanted a company piece of art for use on a limited edition poster. In addition, Ruth painted and donated a logo for South Bay AIDS charity, Amigos Sin Barrios/Friends Without Barriers. Over the last ten years, Ruth has blossomed into an excellent painter of landscapes, architecture and wildlife in multiple medium.

After initially embarking on her own, Ruth decided that she needed to learn more about painting and enrolled in the Mission Renaissance Art School, becoming a student in the morning and an art teacher for kids and teenagers in the afternoon and on weekends. Ruth worked out of various locations for Mission Renaissance, a chain of 20+ schools in Southern California, at one point being offered the opportunity to run her own facility.

After moving to San Francisco with her husband during the Dot-com bubble, Ruth designed a class for adults on drawing, watercolor and oils, which she conducted at Purple Crayon and taught several students out of her house. Upon moving back to Los Angeles after the dot-com crash, Ruth again taught students out of her house before the birth of her first child.

Ruth is currently painting out of her home studio and teaching at the Burton Chace Park in Marina Del Rey offering students a full-range of instruction in most mediums and she is expecting her second child in October.
